'I don't understand Efmevi'
If Efmevi is neither a mass of bitter delinquents nor a sect of misguided zealots, what is it then?
Efmevi is a person standing in your church next to you.
It is one person with one voice, one vision, and one goal.
One person: with a face. It's a community of disenfranchised believers in one person. This person is dedicated to staying in the Coptic Orthodox Church. They will fight and wrestle until they can call the church home in all honesty and sincerity. They will carry the wound of the battle like Jacob did. They do not seek to undermine or overthrow hierarchy. But, they will question for the sake of truth and growth. They will hold the church and hierarchy accountable to their forefathers and founders, and ultimately God himself.
This persons reads, contemplates, studies, questions, and worships.
A single vision. Efmevi strives to listen, understand, and reach out to those shut out. Efmevi cares about them, especially those who have fallen away. The pastoral obligation is of the highest importance. Efmevi strives to be the the well where people can come to drink and meet God.
One goal. Our goal is summed up in our new tag-line:
"enlightenment. knowledge. perfection."
It's still for the same people, the shut out and hurting, but the focus is now on the goal rather than the identity.
